Thank you Microlan Aerospace!
We’re proud to highlight the newest additions to our rocket’s motor—fully sponsored and manufactured by Microlan aerospace. Their support, coordinated by our Propulsion Department Head, Inas Haddouch, enables us to push boundaries in design, testing, and reusability, and we’re incredibly grateful for their partnership.
Steel Nozzles
For the first time, AQUILO is transitioning from aluminium-graphite to steel nozzles, designed by Timo van Spelden. Though heavier (approx. 3 kg), these nozzles offer significantly greater reusability and resilience, making them ideal for repeated static fire testing.
🔩 We’ve also switched our retention method from circlips to bolts for enhanced security and reliability.
Forward Closure
Designed by Tayne Dunn-Parrant, this aluminium part restrains the combustion pressure to protect the casing — critical for maintaining motor integrity.
Pressure Test Endcap
This steel endcap mimics the shape of the forward closure and is used during hydrostatic testing. It was designed by our Structural Department Head, Antoni Koch.
A Huge thanks to Microlan’s sponsorship, make it possible for our team to have the freedom to explore these improvements without the cost barrier, enabling faster development and higher performance potential.
